Audio / Visual Information Assistant – Dar es salaam – Embassy Of The United States Of America

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The AV Information Assistant and Photographer is responsible for all A/V support for the Public Affairs Section (PAS). This includes setting up sound systems, microphones, podiums, computers, props and other equipment as needed for a variety of public events both at the Embassy and at other locations. This also includes serving as the PAS photographer and videographer, and working with other PAS staff to apply those photos and videos to create public diplomacy products such as the website, social media, videos and various publications. In addition, the A/V Information Assistant advises the PAS staff on the maintenance and selection of A/V equipment and materials.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
40% of time
Plans, organizes, sets up and dismantles all audio-visual equipment at venues of mission activities and is responsible for the maintenance and storage of audio-visual equipment; keeps a current inventory and replacement schedules and advises when new acquisitions are needed.

25% of time
Conduct photo and video shooting for Mission public diplomacy programs, edit photos and videos for placement on the Embassy website, social media, local television and for other products.

15% of time
Provide technical assistance for public diplomacy programs involving electronic communications, such as webinars, electronic dialogues, televised press conferences, Digital Video Conferences (DVCs), and the Internet.

10% of time
Design and develops power point presentations, social media postings, podcasts, electronic photo albums and other audio/visual products in support of public diplomacy programs.

10% of time
Liaison with the staff of the Embassy’s Information Programs Center to address computer and television-related needs and support for public diplomacy programs. Serve as point of contact for and accompany the IBB TVRO Contractor Engineer during visits to VOA Affiliates around Tanzania.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Education: Completion of Secondary School (form VI) is required.
2. Prior Work Experience: Three years’ experience in communications media, photography, radio or TV broadcasting, information and communication technology (ICT), audio-visual programming, or other related field is required
3. Language proficiency: Level IV (fluent) in English and Kiswahili (writing, reading and speaking) is required.
4. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of photography, information and communication technology and audio/visual equipment is required.
5. Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate and utilize electronic A/V equipment; use information technologies and Internet media to advance Embassy outreach goals; obtain quality photograph for a variety of purposes; and to oversee the setup and breakdown of A/V equipment for public events. IT software skills required.

SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and US Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
