Position Summary
As our Director of the Children’s Village, you will be one of two top leaders for TCF living at the Children’s Village. Peter Mmassy, co-founder of the Children’s Village will be responsible for strategic vision, expansion of existing programs and the overall education of the children. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the staff and the welfare of the children at the Children’s Village. You will be a critical communication liaison between TCF’s Board, TCF’s U.S. office and the Village. You will also play an important role in ensuring responsible use of donor funds, and cultivating donor and volunteer support.

Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations at the Children’s Village, with primary responsibility for helping foster a loving, safe, and supportive family environment for the children who live there, as well as the adults overseeing their welfare.
Maintain a high bar of accountability regarding day-to-day accounting functions and prepare monthly audit of accounts and monthly financial reports for the board and institutional donors that reflect accuracy and integrity.
Motivate and oversee a staff of 120+ full and part-time employees to develop high performance teams. Coordinate work planning toward specific objectives of the TCF strategic plan.
Develop and implement overall HR strategies, systems, and protocols; serve as point person for any issues that arise.
Supervise and mentor the Volunteer Coordinator, the Sponsorship and Communications Coordinator, the Children’s Village Nurse, and Community Health staff to ensure strategy is followed, efficiencies are met, potential risks are mitigated and all are committed to promoting a healthy and happy environment for the children living at the Children’s Village.
Manage Microfinance Director and work closely with the program to expand offerings, take advantage of emerging opportunities, and plan for changing needs of children at the Children’s Village and targeted groups within the community.
With the Founder and Executive Director, help build partnerships with community, private sector and government people in Tanzania to support operations, create financial opportunities and lay the foundation for future support to the Children’s Village and the community.
Participate and offer reflections and reports on ongoing operations in monthly TCF Board of Directors calls and work closely with board members and U.S. Office staff on organizational strategy and long-term project planning.
Coordinate with TCF’s US office to prepare grant applications and reports.
Requirements

Ability to commit to a long-term contract; 5 years or more strongly preferred
Bachelors or advanced degree
English fluency; knowledge of Swahili is a plus
Track-record of working effectively with children and adolescents in education or social services sector
5+ years of experience relevant to non-profit leadership, management and operations
A passion for and commitment to financial responsibility; advanced budgeting and expense tracking skills required
Strong communication skills and high degree of emotional intelligence; human resource and team management experience strongly preferred
Successful track record of working in the developing world
Ability to thrive living in a beautiful, but very rural and isolated setting
What TCF Offers:

The Director of the Rift Valley Children’s Village will be provided with the following salary and benefits:

$45,000 – $65,000 salary based on experience
Housing in a three bedroom house located on the Children’s Village campus
All housekeeping support, meals, Internet, local phone.
Health insurance, including for all accompanying family members.
A yearly travel allowance
Paid vacation/family leave time.
Use of organization’s vehicle
