Summary of Position
Since 2011, SFCG in Tanzania is working to develop Sustainable Business Practice (SBP) in the extractive industry sector. SFCG is currently seeking to recruit a Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DM&E) Assistant to support the day-to-day monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of SBP project activities. S/he will assist the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator with the development and implementation of strong M&E systems for the SBP project, and with the design of effective monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the impact of SBP activities in Mara

Region and Shinyanga. S/he will also be actively involved in the collection, analysis and filing of M&E data. Based in Mara Region, the DM&E Assistant will report to the DM&E Coordinator based in Dar Es Salaam, as well as collaborate with other SBP project staffs in Mara Region and Shinyanga. This position requires regular travel to project locations.

Responsibilities
 Work with the SFCG Tanzania DM&E Officer to develop effective monitoring and evaluation systems for the SBP project, including an M&E plan.
 Ensure that SBP program staffs actively contribute to, understand and effectively use the project’s M&E plan to document progresses towards the projects’ (un-)intended results.
 Provide technical support to SBP project staffs with the design of monitoring tools for their activities, and help them with the analysis of data for their activity reports.
 Conduct field visits to collect monitoring data, including success stories, as included in the M&E plan.
 Organize quarterly reflective sessions with SBP program staffs in both field offices, to ensure that learning is integrated into everyday project management, with a view to improve the quality and results of the SBP project.
 Participate in the design and implementation of baseline and evaluation activities, under the supervision of the DM&E coordinator.
 Maintain a database of M&E data for the SBP project.
 Participate in cross-fertilization and learning exercises on DM&E at the organizational level.
 Support the DM&E Coordinator with any other tasks as needed.

Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in international development, monitoring and evaluation or related field.
 At least two (2) years of INGO or CSO experience in design, monitoring and evaluation in Tanzania.
 Knowledge and previous experience in design, monitoring and evaluation (DM&E).
 Strong and proven ability in report writing, in desk review elaboration, in research production.
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as social media platforms.
 Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.
 Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
 Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
 Written and oral proficiency in English and Swahili.
 Willingness to be based in Mara Region and travel to remote areas.

Duration: 12 month contract with possibility of renewal
