Transport Manager – Dar es salaam – Ifakara Health Institute

The Transport Manager will be based in Dar es Salaam, reports to the Chief Operations Officer and ensures proper service and maintenance of IHI fleet of vehicles and motorcycles, manages the Fleet Management System.He /She direct daily activities of Transport officers/Mechanic. TheTransport Manager Insures fleet cost reductions & efficiency improvement as well as fleet control are addressed in a timely and in effective manner in all IHI branches and sites.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure quality and availability of transport services to project and others units in the institute at all times.
• Ensure timely maintenance of all vehicles, including maintaining a data base of vehicle and records of service.
• Responsible for the procurement in liaison with procurement officer and making sure that only genuine parts are procured
• Responsible for of all spare parts at HQ and branches.
• Keep track of all maintenances and services
• Ensure well-functioning of all institutional garages, this includes the control of storage/ safety of toolkits and spares.
• Ensure high level internal customer service to project and other units in the Institute.
• Use the fleet Management system to produce monthly fuel consumption reports and share the same with Chief Operations Officer
• Ensure that services and maintenances information are recorded in the system and keep track of the information in the system to ensure that the system is functioning
• Supervise and ensure the fleet log system is functioning including regular liaison with vendor
• Produce monthly transport reports and analysis of the same
• Ensure all transport reports including systems reports are produced in time and well analyzed
• Keep track of drivers performance using the fleet log
• Responsible for setting annual objectives and Managing performance of the staff in the Fleet department
• Custodian of daily drivers time table at the head office and keep track of drivers time table of the branch drivers
• Take lead in organizing and ensure team work among the fleet management
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and experience
• Must be a holder of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Transport Management and Logistics/ Business Administration- Transport logistics.Or related qualification from recognized Institutions.
• Experience in Managing a big fleet of vehicles, and managing a reputable vehicle maintenance workshop and experience in fleet management softwarewillbe an added advantage
• At least 3 years’ experience in Fleet Management
