Chief Officer: Mobile Financial Services – Millicom (Tigo) – Dar es Salaam

JOB PURPOSE
As Chief Officer: Mobile Financial Services (MFS) You are responsible for growing and managing Tigo Pesa business and management of all resources under the MFS department as well as responsible for planning and execution of the company’s business strategy.

Core Tasks & Responsibilities
Strategy
Leads development of the strategic plan for the Mobile financial services business unit as well as the detailed operational plan
Facilitates the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with other Exco members and ensuring that strategy is communicated and understood through ought the organization
Ensure that operational metrics are in place to measure performance and progress of the strategic goals
Engaged external business, industry experts and government stakeholders on the opportunities and risks in the Mobile financial services
Act as a key adviser to the CEO on changes in operation landscape, market reactions and global market trends
Operations Management
Provide day to day leadership and management of the MFS business unit
Design and enhance business operations and policies to help MFS expand into new regions
Develop a strong risk and governance framework to ensure that MFS is compliant to regulations and company policies
Develop and implement annual budget and operational plan
Expand the current MFS product offering into financial services and insurance
People management/leadership
Lead, Inspire and coach a team of high calibre professionals, creating succession to key roles in the department
Provide clear direction in strategic goals, translating and positioning them into business performance measures
Build strong relationship with key stakeholders and peers in the executive management
Provide leadership and adherence to company Code of conduct, Anti-bribery and corruption, as well as Anti-money laundering

Qualifications, Experience And Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Banking, Marketing or Business Administration.
Master’s degree is required: Finance or Commercial.
At least 7 years’ experience in senior management roles.
Senior managerial experience with field and operation experience preferable in FMCG.
Ability to produce accurate and timely information in a high dynamic work environment.
Ability to communicate, influence, and lead teams
Capacity to synthesize broad ideas into simple concepts to articulate proper communication to multiple audiences
Ability to identify customer insights to be used as input for key initiatives or future strategy
Mature ability to identify industry trends and customer insights as input for strategy going forward
Strong numeric and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and ability to work effectively with a wide range of teams and people
Be able to zoom-out to view the “big picture” while maintaining the capacity to zoom-in on key details
Mature ability to work collaboratively with management teams
Exceptional time management and organizational skills
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to senior management
Ability to coach and create high-impact leaders that build on positive teamwork and collaboration
Full ability to speak, read, and write in English language is a must
