Project Management and Communicatons Coordinator – Dar es Salaam – Deloitte

Broad Function
The Project Management and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for implementing strategies in the areas of external and internal communications and events of the program as well as a specific focus on media coverage and brand of the project.
This position will report to the Results Management Office Director.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
In collaboration with the program management team, develop a communication protocol and strategy for all communications within the project and externally with the government, partners and donor;
Oversee implementation of the project branding strategy and marking plan;
Ensure that all program branding and communication policies are well documented and accessible to staff and program stakeholders;
Ensure that the project maintains high visibility in the media regionally, in the national and international media;
Write and distribute press releases for project events as per Deloitte and USAID standards and requirements;
Build and nurture public relations with program donors and implementing partners and identify key audiences for various technical information and target knowledge sharing efforts towards them to promote knowledge uptake and application;
Support the documentation, packaging, storing, and sharing of information in formats tailored to specific audiences including both print and web brochures and newsletters, local and international presentations, case studies, videos, peer-reviewed scientific journals, success stories, briefs, etc;
Ensure that all publications and videos are of high quality and are disseminated appropriately;
Establish a quarterly internal project newsletter that informs staff of project activities, shares best practices, provides policy updates and celebrates successes ;
Work with the program managers to develop documentation systems and ensure program’s strategies and lesson learnt are correctly documented and widely disseminated through the national system;
Promote and support the dissemination of the best practices and lessons learnt among USAID Boresha Afya program team and partners, key program stakeholders (including MOHCDGEC), local and international partners, USAID (DOC) and other collaborators;
Regularly update and maintain the project website;
Share and explore communication processes, good practices within the program and with all stakeholders;
Develop creative and innovative branded program materials;
Implementation of events to ensure they run seamlessly and achieve the agreed upon end objectives;
Initiate both external and internal communications of the project to ensure visibility of the project;
Assist management in tracking queries in the query tracking system and ensure that queries are responded to by the relevant parties in a timely manner;
Strive to ensure compliance with USAID operational policies and regulations as shared from time to time by USAID, Development Outreach and Communications (DOC) Department;
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Media, Communication, Journalism or Public Relations;
An MBA or Masters in Mass Communication will be an added advantage.

Other relevant Skills/Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years working experience in a large donor-funded health program;
Experience with an International NGO or donor funded Program operating in the field of HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria or related public health organisation will be an added advantage;
