Regional Officer – Dar es salaam – Johns Hospkins Center For Communication Programs

Specific duties include:
• Planning with regard to health facility-based’ ITN distribution
• Assist in the implementation of annual work plans for the VectorWorks project, and in particular all activities occurring in the zone covered by the Regional Officer
• Initiate and assist with the planning process with the regional and district level authorities for the distribution of ITNs through ANC/EPI services and through schools
• Liaise with the regional and district authorities to plan advocacy and mobilization activities

Organizing
• Advocate for the buy-in of health facility-based ITN distribution activities by regional and district authorities.
• Liaise with the authorities of the government structures at regional and district levels to ensure mutual collaboration between these structures and the VectorWorks project
• Coordinate and facilitate the training of personnel at regional, district; health facility and community levels for the implement of health facility-based ITN distribution and other malaria prevention and control interventions
• Coordinate the supervision of ITN distribution activities
• Coordinate with field implementing partners at all levels to ensure that outputs are delivered on time and in accordance with contract terms
• Represent the VectorWorks project in all key regional health technical meetings, and provide feedback of meeting proceeds to national level
• Maintain a data base of all field implementing partners, their contacts and locations
• Ensure security and efficient use of all office equipment such as vehicles and any other project assets

Monitoring & Evaluation
• Coordinate all VectorWorks project M & E related activities in the region
• Ensure accuracy of data collected from field and appropriate input of data into designated systems for effective program implementation and monitoring
• Present qualitative and quantitative results to regional and district level stakeholders on regular basis
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative data and research results from internal and external sources for better programming and implementation of project activities in the region
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Degree in social science-related studies, development studies or other related fields required
• Strong project management experience, personnel management and financial/budget analysis skills
• At least four years (4) experience in management, program planning and multi-cultural and remote personnel management experience
• Analytic and ability to become a thought leader in the field and a track record of building strong partner and stakeholder relationships
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
• Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports
• Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, and other standard software
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required
• Willingness to be based in one of the above regions and to travel extensively and to remote rural locations
