Medical Record Technician II – Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences

(a) Required Qualifications
Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Medical Records or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Must have computer skills.

(b) Duties and Responsibilities
i. Receives and register patients and direct them on where to go for attention.
ii. Gives appointments to patients.

iii. Issues files and identification cards to patients. ,
iv. Receives files for patients and collecting files from the ward.
v. Updates information on admissions, discharges and deaths.
vi. Creates and maintaining index in alphabetical order and tracing missing files.
vii. Facilitates availability of records and statistical data for carrying out research.
viii. Assists in designing and maintaining a system for numbering, filing, storage retrieval of patients’ files and other documents.
IX. Assists in periodic arranging of files into shelves.
x. Collects and preparing daily and monthly statistical returns.
xi. Maintains procedures for tracing misfiled and lost case-notes and other documents.
xii. Performs any other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned by his/her superior.
