Head of Legal Services – Dar es Salaam – Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation

The Head of Legal Services is responsible for providing legal services to the Company in accordance with Company’s act and other legal requirements. He/
She shall serve as Legal Secretary for the company.

Makes arrangements for and gives notice of all Board meetings.
Provides legal services to the Company
Provides legal advice and assistance to Divisions and Units on interpretation of laws, terms of contract, terms of agreements, procurement
contracts, guarantees, memorandum of understanding, consultancy agreements and other type of agreements, and other legal documents;
Liaises with user departments and units to ensure proper management of the contracts;
Represents the Company in the court of law;
Ensures compliance of the legislation relating to energy sector;
Prepares minutes, agenda, notices, and subsequent correspondence in connection with meetings of the Management Committees and
Governing Board of Directors;
Attends all meetings of the Governing Board of Directors and Management Committee and keeps a record of the proceedings;
Prepares minutes of Governing Board meetings and provides heads of departments with copies of resolutions or extracts from the minutes, where appropriate;
Acts as custodian of the seal of the company;
Provides efficient and effective insurance covers to the Company’s property and arranges and administers all pension schemes.
Assembles data required for the preparation of memorandum and articles of association and certificates of incorporation, or any other legal document
Arranges for presentation and filing of legal documents to the appropriate authorities;
Ensures the safekeeping of the Company’s records and legal documents, including contracts;
Reviews all Company’s contracts and advises on the company’s Obligations and rights;
Participates in and advises on all negotiations which might lead the Company into legal commitment;
Handles all legal disputes involving the Company; and
Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by Superiors.

Holder of an LLM degree from a recognized institution. Possession of full ICSA certificate will be an added advantage. He or she must be a registered
Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.

At least 10 years working experience from a reputable commercial organization or other reputable institution of which 3 years must be at senior position
Proven high administrative and managerial ability in the Oil industry is essential. .

Must demonstrate integrity and professionalism;
Must demonstrate ability to handle community relationships, disputes and conflicts arising from investments in different locations;
Must be able to deal effectively and timely with demanding situation;
Must be able to work independently and under tight time schedules;
Must be able to manage continuity, change and transition
Must be geared towards changes

Not more than 45 years for those who do not contribute to any pension fund.
